I have had my budgies for two months or so they are kinda used to my hand going around the cage but still a bit startled and I really want to hand tame them.
Does anyone know any stratagies to hand tame budgies?
Put treats on your hand and lift your finger up the budgies belly.Continue this twice a week it works amazingly as I have tamed all seven of my budgies.
I have 4 at the moment and trying to tame any more than one is a pain is the *** and take ALOT of time, because they will bond to each other by default and ignore you. The fact that you have them calm when your close is still a big accomplishment. How i started getting their attention is taking their seed (their favorite food) away from them. Then, every hour hold their food bowl in your hand and hold it inside the cage. Be very still for about 10 minutes, and if they dont come to you, dont worry about it. Usually by the third hour they get interested in that food bowl your holding and decide to 'inspect' it. btw holding your arm out and holding still with food and the weight of budgies gets tiring. I have done this for about a month now and now i can get two of them to eat small pieces of millet from my hand. Eventually you can move on to getting them on your finger or taming them how ever you want,
