Can I leave my ducks at the pond at the park?

we were at a farmers market a couple of weeks ago and some cute ducklings caught the eye of my 7 yr old daughter ... of course she started pestering me and i gave in ... we bought 5 peking ducklings ... the farmer said they would be "good meat" but we don't eat duck so the idea was to raise them as pets ..... fast forward two weeks and they have grown sooo fast!! tripled their size ... they also poo constantly .. literally every 3 secs. i have put them in the tiled floor on the laundry (so that they don't mess up the carpet) and its a big mess in there. my husband is super upset with me ... its clear that we can't raise these ducks .. we do have a park 5 mins from our house .. with a little pond ... however the water seems a bit dirty? its brown colored ... i dont knw if thats normal ... there are lots of other ducks and ducklings there though. i think they would be happier outside in nature rather than being cooped up inside a small laundry room ...... should i let them go at the park? will they be okay by themselves??? the other option is to return them to the farmer and im guessing they would be dinner for him so i dont want to do that
Don't drop of underaged ducks at a park. You might as well just shoot them. It would be a lot better then getting the snot beat out of them from the rest of the ducks setting a pecking order, starving because the other ducks chase then from the bread, and they aren't used to fishing , freezing at night because they are not used to the temperatures, and getting ripped apart by a raccoon. pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com

I have to agree on the ducks being happier in a pond environment, but ducklings are not capable of being in complete charge of themselves. I would suggest putting an add up on Craigslist ~ Free Ducks to good home ~ you should get a taker within a couple of days.

Best wishes, and please don't buy animals on impulse!

Go ahead and leave them by the pond. Once they realize that there is a pond for them to relax in, they will take off into it. You; re be doing the right thing by doing this. They will be a lot more happier there at the pond then being coop up inside a laundry room.
