my dad caught a bird and we're thinking of making it our pet, but, what do we feed him tht we cn find around the house? bread? rice? its a type of a pigeon i think, but wht dooo i feed it ?
Wild bird seed is a healthy mix of nuts and seeds.
I just answered your other question about drinking. My friend feeds her pigeons/doves chick starter (purchased from a feed store where you would buy chicken feed) , bread, lettuce and a pigeon mix, altho wild birdseed mix would be suitable also.
I love watching this type of bird drink. Have you ever noticed that birds have to get water in their mouth & then lift their head up before swallowing? Well pigeons & doves can keep their beak in the water as they drink. Just a factoid for your amusement.=:]
Bird seed mix are the best type of food for birds but if you're looking for something around the house you can feed it rice: Boil the rice in some water don't add any oil or salt keep it plain. Birds I've found love rice and some even like bread and pieces of fruit.
