My granddad has a male and female cockatiels. According to the person who gave them to use they are about 3 years old now. When the male began mounting the female my granddad added a nesting box to the side of thier cage in case they wanted to lay eggs. He bought nesting material also. The male mounts the female almost everyday, sometimes up to 3 times in a day. He goes in and out from the nesting box. This has been going on for at least 6-8 months now yet she has not laid eggs. she doesnt even seem interested in the nesting box either. Is there a reason why nothing is happening despite the constant mating???

maybe thre both male or both female
maybe those "females" are actually males.
