I bought a pair of breeder cockatiels almost a year ago. She said they would breed right away but after 7 months nothing happened. Well they finally laid a egg about a week ago but there is only one. From what i have read there should be more but there has not ben any. They take good care of it though they are almost in there the whole day. And I'm not sure if it's fertile because I have seen them mate before and nothing happened. But she was younger then because now she is a year and a half old.
Read this Im sure it will answer your questions.

I think you need to do a lot more research before you try to have breeder birds. It doesn't sound like you give them sufficient attention and care. You don't seem to know much about your birds at all.
Before you worry about why she only laid one egg (which is perfectly fine and normal) you should do research on how to take care of a cockatiel.
Ok first of all let me ask you this.WHY did you buy breeders if you don't know anything about them? Secondly they can lay 1 egg a week if that's what they feel they need to do thirdly the female maybe egg bound.Be sure to give them lots of calcium while they are egging.
hard to say, maybe her age is a little young, i had a true pair for many years before they were successful and they started off with small clutches. i might add that because they were good parents and only had small clutches that i was able to use them as foster parents which was excellent. given time your cocktails may get larger broods and better success but it may take time.
