I had three baby chicks a Rhode Island Red baby rooster and a black chicken and this one, a white baby chicken. Two days ago my rooster went missing and I didn't understand why, I figured a Hawk, a Coyote, or something else had taken him. Today however I heard a lot of commotion in the morning before going to work and went outside. My dog had the black chicken in his mouth. I shouted at him to stop and tied him at his tie-out (his " ; time-out "if you will) and went to see how the chicken was doing. The chicken was lifeless .... Now I have one baby chicken, and we have now named her" lucky ". Should I buy more chickens are retry or should I just concentrate of taking care of her?
You should just try taking care of her until she gets older. 3-5 weeks is pretty young for an animal.
I would recommend getting another chicken or two around her age for company and warmth. They are still relatively cheap at that age, so it probably won't be much of a problem. Make sure you tend to her, of course, but I think getting a few more will actually help her, since she won't feel alone and scared. And, of course, keep your dog away.
pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com Good luck with your chickie, and I hope she will grow up to be big and healthy!
Both! You can buy more chickens AND concentrate on taking good care of her, just keep your dog away this time!
