Found a baby bird, Help!?

okay i found a baby bird in my backyard. it has all its feathers with only a few baby ones left, i tried to find its nest or its parents but i was unsuccessful. it tries to fly but cant actually get in the air. i think its perfectly healthy just lost. i want to release it but i dont think it will survive without being able to fly so until it can what do i feed it (i think its past the dropper baby food stage) and how do i just look after it in general?
If it has all of its feathers, it is a fledgling - meaning that it is ready to leave the nest and did not fall out by accident. At this stage, the baby bird is not yet able to fly on its own very well, but its parents are nearby while it hops around on the ground, feeding it and trying to protect it from predators. Baby birds are very prone to die from stress in captivity, so the best thing for this bird is for you to return it where you found it so that its parents can find it again. To make it easier for the parents to be reunited with their baby, put the bird in a small box and try to put it as high up in a tree near where you found it as possible. The parents will be able to find it. Make sure the box is short enough that the baby can get out once it finds its parents. pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com

If you can't reach into any of the trees where you found the baby, you can also put it in a box on the ground, but it is at a greater risk from predators this way. Make sure that once you have returned the baby where its parents can find it you leave it alone. If you are too close, the parents won't show themselves even if they are nearby. If you are worried that the parents aren't coming back, you can check on the baby every few hours to make sure that it is warm and active. If it is cold or lethargic, bring it inside where it is warm and call a wildlife rehabber in your area. Whatever you do, don't feed a baby that is cold to the touch - this will kill it!

Don't worry about that old wives' tale about birds rejecting babies if humans have touched them - it's not true! As long as you put the baby back where you found it, its chances of being reunited with its parents are very good.
This bird is NOT lost ....

If the bird is fully feathered, it is most likely a fledgling and has left the nest on it's own and it's parents are caring for it. It is normal for birds to leave the nest before they can fly. You need to replace it where you found it .. preferably in a scrub or tree so it is relatively safe from predators, and the parents should come back to feed it. If it is unfeathered ... then look for a nest and if you can find it ... replace it into the nest. Do not worry about your scent being on the chick .. birds have a very poorly developed sense of smell and will NOT reject a baby that has been touched. If you cannot find a nest, get the bird to a local wildlife rehab for it's best chance of survival. Also, keep in mind, it is illegal for you to try and raise this bird on your own. Look for a rehab here:

Don't worry I've seen this many times on TV, usually they grow up fine with the proper meals and exercise. Most of the time they are released, however if you choose to keep it there is nothing stopping you. Hope this helped :)
go to the pet store and buy it food, or if you have sunflower seed feed it that!!! then release it when it can fly and when it is old enough
Take it to a pet place where they can take care of the bird, feed it properly, and when it's old enough, set it free.
