well, i was going to buy a cockatiel, but i changed my mind at the pet shop.
so i bought 2 budgies, Spycie and Selene
and they have settled in nicely.
its been 5 hours in the house
they are both 12 weeks old, they are now on a cage on the table in front of me.
i know they say "give them time to adjust"
but both my little budgie boys are sleeping, sleeping, sleeping. nonstop.
can you please tell me whas happening?
Spycie was the first to go down on the floor to eat a bit of food, then selene followed.
they cant stop sleeping. is this alright? i have books on budgies, and ive read them. at the pet shop they were fine, flying and biting and chirping.
is this normal?

Since you've only had your budgies for a few hours, they are probably stressed, tired, and scared. They're used to being in the petstore around other budgies and not in your home. This is why they want to sleep. Most budgies will either sit in one place and not do much of anything and be silent or sleep when you first get them. Budgies need time to adjust to their new home.

Fortunately, both of yours did eat some food, which is a good sign. Also, they were active in the petstore, which is another sign they are most likely in good health. I would advise keeping them in the cage and letting them get used to it before taking them out for playtime or handling them. They should start eating, chirping, and becoming more active in the next few days. If you don't see a sign of improvement after a few days, then I'd recommend taking them for to an avian vet for an exam. Some signs of illness to look for are a fluffed up appearance, loss of appetite, runny cere, trouble breathing, laying at the bottom of the cage, diarrhea, constipation, and a dirty vent.

Well, i have two huskys and again they are not budgies (lol that word is funny) but i remember when i first got my dogs , they were sleeping non-stop for like a week. they would wake up every now and then to do there buisness and eat but other than that, they would sleep. I think they were just resting and getting used to there surroundings.

Well I Know They Are 2 Complete Different Animals But I Have Had Hamsters From Pet Stores Before And All Of Them Will Sleep For The First 1-3 Days Maybe A Little Longer Remember They Have Left All Of Their Old Friends To New Surroundings And Smells Give Them A Few Days:)
