I have never known a bird to cough, but it sounds like that's what he's doing. It sort of sounds like a sneeze, but he's not sneezing, and it's more blunt and ... cough like than a sneeze.
He doesn't talk, just mimics noises he hears a lot, so that could be it. He already mimics human sneezing (which isn't too hard to tell apart from his real sneezes. Apparently when humans sneeze it sounds like "wachooooo" ; to birds.
He isn't showing any signs of illness either. He's his normal, fat and happy, hyper self.
I know they can get upper respiratory infections but not sure about coughing. They can do hide their illnesses, If you have a humidifier run that but I would call your vet, just to be sure.
Well, this is weird, because I went with my mom's friend to the vet office today to shadow her (I'm home schooled) and she taught me about this ... you bring it to the vet, and they have to like "wash" out it's lungs, by pumping a very little amount of water in and out of the lungs with a tube that goes down their throat. He most likely has something clogged in there, that's what causes the coughing/wheezing.

Lol I'm not sure, I've never had or heard of a coughing bird. And it doesn't seem like the bird is sick you said it is acting normal and mimics sounds. But just in case maybe you should call the vet or something.
I suggest that you put your bird's behaviour on youtube and give us the link, then we could decide about it.
