I LIVE IN MINNEAPOLIS, MN AND CANT FIND A BREEDER OE SELLER THAT HAS PARROTS THAT DONT COST AS MUCH AS MY RENT LOL PLEASE HELP !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Before you consider buying a bird, you need to realize how much of a responsibility they are. Some of the more expensive birds have the ability to be as smart as a 4 year old child - locking one up in a cage can create a depressed bird.
If you get a bird, I'd suggest buying a budgy - they're only about $ 20 - $ 40 and they're easy to take care of. They require a lot less attention and if you get two of them, they can often entertain each other.
Do not try to get a lovebird, conure, quaker, parrot if you're planning to "save money." They're an investment. They require a $ 100 + cage, $ 20 + in food and toys a month and papers to change every week. They're a lot of work. Budgys or parakeets are a much better option for you.
have you tried maybe looking for parakeet species rather than larger parrots? they can be just as affectionate, rewarding and talkative as larger parrots but don't cost the small fortune that parrots do? such birds as budgies, cocktails, kakarikis and conjures are excellent 'mini parrots'. you may be able to look in local pet shops, papers, internet and i strongly suggest looking in parrot keepers magazine to find local breeders. hope this helps:)
Try searching on eBay Classifieds for cheap birds, or PetFinder.
pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com However, I'm getting the gist that you're currently looking for a larger bird. Why not try a smaller one? They're easier to take care of and make less noise and mess than most of the larger parrots. If you ' re looking for a more parrot-like bird, get a Green-Cheek conure. They're sweet, cuddly, and don't cost that much, usually around $ 300, $ 400.
Good luck!
