Ive gotten mixed information so I was wondering what others thought.
mine has a mirror toy with little beads that it sits and moves back and forth all day. he is always sitting by it.
Male canaries don't want to sing if there is a mirror in the cage. The canary looking into the mirror will think there's another canary around and won't sing. Mirrors can cause a canary to become depressed, as well, since the canary doesn't get a respons from the image it sees in the mirror. For a canary, I ' d advise against a mirror.
Typically, canaries are not tamed. If your canary is a male, then I wouldn't really recommend getting another one. A female might produce eggs (tempting, but you wouldn't want her dying of egg binding or the chicks getting hurt). Two males will get territorial. A mirror in the cage is great for a canary. It will make him think he has a little friend to sing to, preen and do other little bird things with. If your bird doesn't sing, then it may be a girl, and you could buy a second female.

I would get mine another canary if i were u. my friend had 4 one died and she got another. And no never put a mirror in a canary's cage. They might think that its another part of the cage they they never discovered and just go on and fly right into it and get hurt. seriously hurt.
give them a mirror if there is two birds, if theres only one bird it will be depressed because it thinks another bird is in the cage and its not interacting with it ... get another bird of the opposite sex and let your canary enjoy its life
