do male doves try do mate with other males? because i got 2 doves yesterday and the lady told me she was pretty sure they were both boys since they never laid eggs but one of them mounted the the one lol. does this mean ones a boy and ones a girl?

The only way you are going to be positive is if one should ever lay an egg or if you have a DNA test done. Breeders and anyone trying to sell will often tell you what they think you want to hear. I am not an expert on Doves. But I can tell you that among other types and among many parrots, yes, same sex birds will often display what appears to be mating behavior . If they were raised together, caged together and feel bonded to each other, it's not unusual at all for it to happen. So, you can just wait it out, or contact an Avian Vet about getting them DNA tested. Costs varies by area and by vet so just give a call and ask what they charge. Then you can decide if you want to know that badly.
Not necessarily - males will do that to dominate the other, they aren't actually trying to mate.
