I am a first time bird owner, just bought a 5 1/2 month old african grey.
I took her home yesterday, i have a bigbeautiful cage with alot of various perches. She is up on one of the high perches and really hasn't moved.
I go to her cage and talk to her, but I am not forcing her to come out of the cage
1) Do i coax her out of the cage, or do i wait for her to get comfortable and do it on her own???
I have a friendly dog, do i introduce them yet (with bird in the cage of course), or should i keep the dog away until the bird is comfortable in her new home?
I would appreciate any help that you can give me
Thanks,
Joe
I would give the bird some time. Birds stress really easily and extreme stress can lead to illness and death. Just give the parrot sometime to come around. You can introduce the dog gradually later. My only other question would be, did you buy her from a reputable person and has she been vet checked. Birds can get several avian diseases if not well taken care of and some are even transmissible to humans.
our conure loves music try playing it in the room to see if the bird likes music as much as our bird does.
