I have a parakeet named Ernie and he was recently moved into a new cage. He's really bored in there and doesn't eat alot. I think that I need to do something to make his cage more comfortable. Any reasons why he isn't eating and/or what I can do to spiff up his cage to make it fun?
(He is not a "tame" bird. I can't take him out of his cage.)
Parakeets may take some time to adjust into a new cage. But you can transfer all his toys from previous cage. If he is alone, I would recommend bringing a new parakeet for him as a mate. Lonely bird will get bored if you are not around him much. Try to feed him millets. They love it as their treat.
