she is whistling at him all day, has been very vocal around him and is trying to snuggle with him but he doesnt really like it. she is only about 8 to 10 monthes and he is 2 year. does this mean she is ready to mate but he doesnt want to? please HELP!!
yes you occasionally get hens like that they want to mate and lay eggs, if she starts laying lots of eggs let her sit on them for a while because if you take them away she will just lay more and it eventually depletes her calcium levels and destroys the oviduct and kills the bird in a not very nice way, they can slowly drown in fluid leaking into their air sacs and putting pressure on the heart, females generally don't whistle , the male whistles and opens his wings slightly in the courtship ritual and walks round the female, sounds like you may have them back to front
