is it normal for cockatiels to molt in sections?

My cockatiel molts a LOT every summer, and a little tiny bit every winter But when he does molt in the winter, he only molts in certain areas every time. Two years ago, he didn't molt at all, last year he only lost his tail feathers. This year, so far at least, the only feathers he's seem to have lost are his flight feathers (We don't trim his wings, but if you saw him right now, you'd think we did, at least on one wing). All of his flight feathers are gone on one wing, and he only has one on the other wing.

Is this normal?
Right now my cockatiel is molting little curly feathers from his body. Last month he molted tail and wing feathers. He is asking me to scratch his head a lot, which means he will be molting his crest feathers soon .

It is not normal that you would notice all flight feathers gone on one wing. He might be plucking them. Keep an eye on him, and take him to an avian vet if you notice further problems.
Its normal. Birds grow new plumages in sections so that it has minimal interference with their flight ability. It is all timed specifically based on season and year.
It is not normal for a cockatiel to molt in sections around the body, it usually goes from tail to head .
