i have max, my 10 year old blue fronted amazon parrot, he loves to break his toys and is extremely healthy, i could fit in his cage!! but about the snacks, is it okay to feed him human food like .... .. crackers, multi-grain chirios, cheese, yogurt, rice crispys?
thanks!
When you feed cereals get the unsweetened kind.Cheerios are often used to teach baby birds how to get used to pellets. Good treats are fruits and veggies. Try baby carrots, apple pieces, broccoli, an occasional almond or walnut in the shell (avoid peanuts in the shell - they carry molds, etc) Avoid salty foods and junk foods that aren't good for you like potato chips. Cheese in limited quantities. Plain yogurt is ok. A bit of 12 grain bread is fine. Remember if it will get you fat, it's not good for your bird either. Most birds like blueberries.
Dairy products are not natural to parrot diets but any grain base, fruit or protien is acceptable aside from the additives that are in produced foods. beware of high salt content and also iron levels. My hookbills love plain noodles, unsalted corn chips, french fries (the oils are good for the feathers) and KFC, the maro from the bones they break open is good for them.
You don't want to feed him cheese.i wouldn't feed any mine yogurt. But i feed mine all brand the vet that was good. And they can eat lot of human foods.Beans is good for them lot of other things.
It is not advisable. Human foods as you would know contain preservatives and the like. Best to feed him things that he would eat if he were a wild parrot.
if i were you i wouldn 't
