I have two hamster right now, a male and a female. They're both relatively young, the male i've had for a little over a month and the female, 2-3 months. The male hamster seems to sleep all day except at like 3-6 am. Also, he never runs in his wheel and when I put him in his ball, he just sits there. The female is the polar opposite. She sleeps in half hour segments and runs all day and night. Except for when she sleeps, she literally can't stay in one spot for more than 5 seconds. Is there something wrong with them? Also, is the male supposed to have a large bald butt?
The male may be sick, I don't know why he would have a bald butt. You could try some vitamins.
We've had hamsters that didn't do anything with the wheel or the ball. Maybe he was dropped or injured so his hind legs may hurt. He is still a baby, maybe when he gets a little older he won't sleep as much.
A book from the pet shop would help.
