I have 5 Bantams that I got from work about 2 months ago they are all living happily together but have not yet reached POL will they accept a new hen that is only 6 weeks old??
I'm afraid the established flock will pick on this chick, its not even a "hen" yet its a chick even though it may look like a small hen. It should still be on chick crumb for another few weeks not layers food.
Are you sure its female, if its male they will bully it even more. I tried introducing a "hen" once and had to remove it as they other hens nearly killed it. Turns out it was a young cockerel (rooster).
I usually introduce chicks to the main flock when they are around 9 or 10 weeks old and even then they do get picked on for the first few days.
Also its never a good idea to introduce 1 new bird on its own, better to introduce them in 2s or 3s that way they at least have each other for company. My advice is to keep this chick separate for about a month and maybe try to find another bird around the same age to put in with it so they pal up and will adapt better to life within the flock when you do introduce them.
i did it the other way round and put 3 silkies (2 hens 1 male ) into my coop with my 7 week old chickens and they all get on fine now and hopfully ill add 2 bluebells to my baby flock soon
