Do human medicines work on birds (budgies) as well?

My budgie was ill and I gave her human medicine as there was no vet around and she is getting better ... So do they work??
There are some medications that animals and humans take that are the same. The huge ( I mean really huge) difference is in the strength of the dose and the dosing schedule. Get it wrong and just like in humans the bird could end up dead. The biggest prob I see here is that you have no proof that this medicine is what made the bird get better.

If your pet didn't die you are very fortunate. However, you have no idea if the medicine has caused any sort of permanent damage to the birds internal organs --- liver, kidneys, heart. Very well could have but likely you ' ll never know. I wouldn't do it again.

Best wishes from here on.
I drive 90 min to my avian specialist. There are ones closer but I really trust mine. Many non avian vets are quite good with birds. Even my vet makes a living seeing far more dogs/cats than birds. I would've never thot to call a poultry breeder. Brilliant! So glad yer bird's okay.

you shoud not do that you might end up with a dead bird you might have gotten lucky but sooner you will run out of luck and end up with a dead budgie.
Then it works
