took my quaker parrot Tyco to the vet, no broken bones or internal bleeding. They say it must be a nuerological problem, because both of his legs are immobile due to an accident (he screamed and when i looked he was at bottom of cage) . He is obviously uncomfortable on his stomache, but he is on his back. Is it ok for him to lay on his back for extended periods of time? PLEASE HELP ASAP. This bird is my life, i don't want him to. .. die: (
Conures lay on there backs all the time. If your quaker is comfortable on his back it is ok.I have quakers and conures. I would call the vet and make sure. To many people on these sites will give you what they think most don't even own birds.
definitely not. Birds are NEVER on their back. Birds rarely even lay down, only when they are very injured. But when they are on their back, that means they are very close to dying. I can imagine that it probably also makes it difficult for them to breath. I would suggest trying to somehow prop him up with a towel or something, but try to get him on his stomach anyway that you can.
pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com joewebb, I own, and breed, cockatiels, thanks. I also know someone who owns several conures, none of which have EVER laid on their back. The person asking the question even said that she PUT the bird on his back.
