what is the earliest time u can handle a pigeon chick,
this our first baby chick and we are keep to get know a little more incase his/her mum rejects them, up to now shes doing a good job at 2 days old, we are greatful to any help x.
It is probably best if you wait a few days to handle the babies as they are a bit fragile when tiny and if the parent is very protective they could accidentally be injured. That being said it won't hurt to handle the babies from day one if you are very, very.careful and avoid a sudden chill to the babies. It is well if you get the parents used to you handling the babies as you will want to change the nesting material as it will get pretty messy as time goes on. My husband always handled his babies often and he always has had beautiful tame babies and great parents.
hi yogi T, thank u for the advice this will be very helpful, mum is doing well with her chick shes let me see him/her my worry is that there is only mum with the chick as dad hasnt yet come back yet so would this affect the little chick while its little? as he was sitting on the egg the most
