When do Indian ringnecks get the ring around their neck?
Usually it takes about 1 to 3 years for the ring to form. Only male ringneck develop the ring. These birds are one of the most intelligent and best talkers in the world, so have fun with it! If you do not want to wait for the ring to tell if it is a male or female, you can get a blood test for about 20 $.

I've had several and it takes at least a year until you can see it. Had a blue one that took 18 + months. At first it looks like black specs and they eventually make the ring.

At about 2 years old, if your Ringneck has no ring you can safely say it is a female. Though males can get the ring anywhere from 6 months-2 years old .
