If my bird is on the opposite side of the house with the door closed will it be safe from fumes? Or if I have an air cleaner or HEPA cleaner or something next to the cage will it be okay?
That's what I do everyday .. My house is small where the kitchen and living room are combined. So I either keep the cage out in patio with glass door closed or in the bedroom with door closed and also put a towel at the bottom of the door to prevent any fumes from going into the room ..
I have raised birds for over 20 years and keep my birds far away from the kitchen where any fumes from teflon (non stick pans). Birds are very temperamental and need fresh, clean air, lots of sun light, and fresh, clean food and water. Be sure to change your bird's cage often and in the summer months, when the weather is warm and mild, you may even want to bring your bird outside (in its cage of course ). Birds get respiratory infections rather easily so be sure they are kept away from cool drafts or any air pollution such as cigarette smoke, teflon fumes, etc.
it will be ok, as long as he is at least 5 meters away from the fumes or if you put him in a room with a closed door.
