Lonely Budgie Will a Cockatiel help?

I have a (about) 4 month old English budgie, and I've had him for about a month, and lately I've been really busy and haven't been able to be at home as much. I think he's lonely, so my mom and I have been considering getting another bird to keep him company, but I have two questions.

1) Can I put an English budgie with a regular budgie? I don't know anywhere near that I can get another English budgie, because the breeder I went to only had two, mine and a girl, and I don't want baby budgies any time soon.

2) My dad wants a cockatiel, I was told that cockatiels and budgie will get along fine, and they wouldn't be in the same cage, but definitely in the same room. Would a cockatiel still be company enough for him?

Ideally, we don't want to have more than 2 birds in the house, I would love to have a cockatiel as well, but if a cockatiel won't make Sebastian (my budgie) less lonely, then we'll get another budgie , quarantine it for 2 weeks, and then put it in Sebbie's cage (the cage is HUGE and can easily suffice 2 birds).
You should never mix species in one cage. Even though Budgies are smaller, they are by far the more aggressive and can be very cage territorial. If you want to have them live together, stick with Budgies, no matter which type. You are going to need a separate cage for the initial mandatory 30 day quarantine anyway. So if you want a Cockatiel , by all means, get one but don't ever try to cage them together. The Tiel could end up injured or worse. Just be sure that no matter which you get, observe that quarantine. It's always important but never more so than if the new bird comes from a pet store. They birds are too often already ill in the store. The 30 day quarantine with the cages in separate rooms can keep you from having two ill birds.
Getting birds along with each other that only depends on the bird itself!

If it like to have a company with him, they will get used to it so easy.

I have some lovebirds, and they wont get along with each other! And they are the same type, so make sure first that is ok with the bird to have another one sharing his cage, food, water, and most importantly sharing you with him !

Also, if your bird doesn't like to share you with any other bird, it might end up hating you! Be careful with that.
A cockatiel will be ok for your English Budgie as long as they are not in the same cage. You can put the two cages next to each other so that both birds can see each other and communicate to each other at any given time.
