hi everyone.
i will be getting a cockatiel in a week!: D
and i have been researching like mad, trying to find out about those birds as much as i can.
these are the things i know:
how to train/tame cockatiels
what food they can eat
health
how to make it talk
how to let it out of its cage daily
bits and bobs i need to get for the cage:
two perches
a seed feeder
toys
couple of bells
i will make sure i get those thing soon!
so, as i know nearly everything about them birds, but could you tell me anything more?
any fun facts? serious facts? anything i need to keep in mind?

2.Their first home. Cockatiels first originated from Australia.
3.Young parents. Cockatiels are the only species of cockatoo that can begin to breed in their first year. Talk about starting young!

The answers already given are very good. All that I can add to it is that you need to be patient with you new little friend. Teach them to cuddle you or talk. Remember, they have little brains, so there's only so much they can think at a given time.

They like shoe laces and also hair bands
they liked to be scratched when they are used to you
their bites to me just tickles and dont hurt (only 1 time when i just got mine)
its hard to tell if its male or female but this might help

breeders know what they are talking about, pet shops dont as only want your money
never give chocolate or advocado to a cockatiel
they are very fast learners within the 1st few days you will see results
