Pet sitting question (parrot)?
I recently had a girlfriend move in along with her parrot I really like the bird and he has taken to me quite well I worry about him as she is gone all the time and I find that I am taking care of the bird most of the time feeding everyday, fresh water, and cleaning his cage. I think I should charge her for all this bird sitting but do not know how much for such. I do not really need the money but maybe she will get the hint by asking her to pay me that she needs to spend a little time with him as he gets very lonely and I cannot just sit in her room all day to keep this bird company. Thanks
You are on the right track.

Have a heart to heart talk with your friend. Tell her you are taking care of the bird daily and ask her what she thinks if fair for you.

It may be that she if fed up with the bird and will give it to you. Or - I think $10.00 a day is very reasonable for what you are doing. When I leave town I pay $25 a day for someone to come over twice a day and feed and water the birds. They do not clean the cages or sweep. You are already there and doing much more than chores.....you like the bird. Until it is yours, you should be paid to care for it. If the roommate is paying rent - let that be. She should pay you separately from the rental agreement. This may make her think about whether or not she wants to take care of the bird herself. Be sure the parrot has a cuttle bone to chew on for calcium. pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com

And a big Thank You for taking care of the parrot. What kind of parrot is it?
