How to keep my bird from biting?
I got two green cheek conures about a week ago and have been enjoying them since. The only problem I have is that when one of them is climbing around my shoulders he will start to bite me. What are some good ways to correct them? Whenever I try to do something, he'll just start biting more.
The best way, that i've found, is to not react in any way shape or form to him when he bites, If he bites your finger, (Example) Keep your finger in front of him, the key thing to this method is to not react, at all. He bites you because he thinks it'll give him what he wants, and you can't do that, another method that works for some birds is to do the opposite of what he wants, OR something that he HATES when he bites. But please, make sure hes actually biting and not using his beak to climb on you, parrots use their beak to climb on things.
Birds love attention from their owners, I had a biter once and simply put her back in her cage when she bit. After a few weeks, she caught on. I agree with the other post tho, make sure she's actually *biting*.
