ive always wondered and does anyoine know how to make a homemade nest for them?

You never breed budgies when you have more than just one pair i9n a cage. If you try and breed with others in the cage (called colony breeding) you will have fights , deaths, smashed eggs and killed babies.
There is no egg laying season. Birds being in condition (healthy, happy, well fed) will breed if a nestbox is put in the cage. Do not add a nestbox unless the birds are over 12 months of age and only one male and one famale in the cage.
Dont waste your time with a homemade nest as people rarely get that right ... no cardboard nests, no finch baskets, ..... .......... best to buy a wooden nestbox from the pet store (a budgie one not anything else).
But NEVER add a nestbox to a communal cage or anywhere that budgies are that are underaged.
