Are the Owls Domesticated?
i would like to know if owls are domesticated because if they are that means they can be pets =)
NO!
Absolutely NOT!
NOT selectively bred & culled for thousands of years means NOT domesticated!!
WILD species....all of them.
Don't you get an owl as a pet. You think that a domesticated animal is automatically suited for being a pet, but it takes a lot more than that. So, forget about it. Really. Owls are predator birds, they just aren't suited for living in a cage. They count just as eagles or stuff. Do you think you could handle keeping an eagle or hawk? I don't think so, so don't try it on an owl. Crazy people who always want something special and exotic without knowing anything about the living creature they put into cages.
No they are not domesticated, but unfortunately people do keep them as 'pets'. They are still wild birds, and they should be flown or hunted, not kept in an aviary for the remainder of their life.
This isn't Harry Potter (though it would be totally cool if it was, haha). So no. Owls aren't suited to living lives caged up. No bird is, really. They need space to roam, stake out their territory, hunt, and stretch their wings.
